Run Up 2 Christmas

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat, please do put a penny in the old mans hat! Yes, it’s that time of the year again, the Coca Cola Advert has started airing, I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here is back, we’re all wearing jumpers and it’s getting colder and snowing (well it did this weekend), looks like it’s CHRISTMAS!

I’m proud to announce that this December, I’ve signed up for a new challenge, I’ve signed up to Run Up 2 Christmas. With me just starting running, this challenge is going to be a tough one. I’ll be going from running nothing to running 31 miles in just 25 days, it’s a tough ask but I can do it if I put my mind to it. Plus it means I can eat more mince pies once I’ve been running!

So, What’s The Plan?

I know what you’re thinking, how on earth am I going to run from nothing to run 31 miles in just 25 days? I don’t know how I’m going to do it, but one thing I know is that I need a plan, a plan to get me through the challenge. I’ve worked it out and I need to run 2 miles a day, I won’t be doing it that way, as that is more likely to lead to injury. What I will be doing though is running at least three times a week a combination of miles and slowly building it up. I’ll update you with my progress mid-way through December.

Nothing Is Impossible

I’m a great believer in this statement, nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it. This challenge for example, it’s going to be hard but I know I can do it, it’s simply a case of trying my best. One thing with me having Aspergers is that if I put my mind to something I can do it, I just have to try. That’s how I achieved my London Marathon time of 3hrs 44 minutes because I put my mind to it. The only problem is that I tend to focus on the subject too much when I put my mind to things, it can sometimes take over and I can become obsessed with the subject, for example running became an obsession when I was training for my marathon, somehow I have to find a balance between putting my mind to something and other areas of interest.

I’ve Got Support

One thing I’ve made sure I have as I take on the challenge is support. I’ve joined the Santa Paws team and hope to tweet out my challenge as I’m doing it. Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter and Instagram to stay updated with my Run Up 2 Christmas challenge!
