Being Overweight

Are you overweight? Are you one of 8 million obese people around the world? Do you carry around a few extra pounds? The thing is, I am overweight, I’m not afraid to admit that. No one is perfect though, I know I often pitch myself as this perfect person who has excellent mental health, who has the excelled with autism, that can easily come across throughout my social media. The thing is, I DON’T have a perfect life and often struggle with my autistic traits, I want to highlight this factor within this blog, I do have my flaws.

Eating ice cream and junk food is part of obesity problem

I Can’t Quit Eating

Food, I love everything about it, but it’s the junk food I’m addicted to, particularly the sugary foods, the obese foods. Just now I went to the gym, I went on the treadmill for 8 minutes, just 8 minutes, then left and went home to write this blog. I just found it so hard to keep running on the treadmill, it feels like my heart’s about to pop out, I know a lot of people rely on me for running tips, especially within this blog, but I just feel so overweight and depressed, especially after visiting the gym for just 8 minutes!

Negative Depression Thoughts

I mean I burnt just 100 calories, the worst thing was, I came home and eat a giant pack of cheese and onion crisps and a Mars Bar because I just felt so down. Binge eating is very common if you’re feeling down, I even had a rush of thoughts go into my head, m so many negative thoughts such as “what’s the point?”, “it’s too tough, I give up, I’m better off just going home, the gym is too tough, I can’t run like I used to.”, “May as well as eat this food and enjoy myself, whilst I’m still here.”.

The thing is, I should have been thinking about the positive things I can do, the things I have done in the day rather than these negative thoughts. Changing your mindset is key to how you think and feel, yes I can’t stop eating these obese foods but I can change how I think. For example, I should have been grateful and kind to myself for going to the gym in the first place, sometimes getting to the gym is the hardest part, then I should have praised myself for getting up early this morning and creating a TikTok video, whilst then going to my art group. I was the first one awake in my household, well I’m always the first one up, I start the day working away on my Mac hoping one day to be even more successful than I already am whilst the rest of my family sleep.

“Positive thoughts means a positive mind, think positive, get positive results.”

I should praise myself for writing this blog and recognising my thoughts and feelings, whilst I shouldn’t beat myself up for eating some crisps and a chocolate bar, I should say to myself, how well deserved that food was after an extremely busy Monday morning. You see, switching your mindset is the key to feeling better within yourself and living a happy and fulfilled life.

Measure My BMI?

Whilst we’re on the subject of obesity, I thought I’d include some handy information on how to calculate your BMI. A BMI (Body Mass Index) uses your height and weight to work out if your bodyweight is healthy, in my opinion it’s a very outdated way of measuring your state of obesity. When I worked out mine, it said I was obese, back when I was running for weight loss, I felt better within myself but unfortunately I got ill a few months down the line with psychosis. Obesity is a tough subject and I praise myself for opening up and being honest about my weight. I’ll try and lose a bit of weight, but of course I’m starting to feel happy how I am now, that’s overweight and that’s the most important thing.
