Why You Should Love Xmas

XMAS! I love it, it’s easily my favourite time of the year, mince pies, Santa, presents, snow, family, magic, warmth, love, laugh, living, caring, smells, food, theatre, wine, beer, cider, spirits (in more ways than one) and memories. It’s full of just amazing, loveable days and laughter but why do so many people struggle at this time of year? I’m going to explore how I cope at this time of year and hopefully give you a more positive way of thinking during what’s known as the hardest part of the year.

Presents

Okay, so it’s Xmas, many people hate buying presents for people, one because of the money side of things and two because they feel like they should give people equal things. The thing is, you don’t have to spend money and even if you do, you could make something out of just paper, your house is probably full of objects you could gift someone, look outside, maybe there’s a flower or a piece of grass you could create some art with. Secondly, the things you give to people don’t have to be equal, in terms of monetary value, it’s the thought that counts and if you want to treat someone more than another, go for it, you only live once, make the most out of every memory.

Preparation

The media doesn’t help, promoting this whole attitude that you need to have a turkey roast on Christmas Day, but do you? You could have a McDonalds, I usually have a roast but it’s what you enjoy that counts. At Christmas, you often think about people who are lonely such as people who live on their own, if you’re one of them reading this, make sure you make plans of where you’re going to go, I think it’s important to be with people on Xmas day, even if it’s just for an hour or two. Going back to the preparation, the only thing you need to do is ensure your presents are wrapped and stocking’s are full, especially if you have children, make time for this and do this well in advanced, of course there’s going to be a bit of preparation for Xmas but when don’t have to prepare for everything in life, job interviews to going to the gym, you have to prepare for it, I recommend doing this as earlier as you can, making the procedure stress free.

January Blues

After Xmas, it’s a tough time, for me this is where I tend to struggle, my way of thinking is that it’s a new year, a new chance to do new things, new adventures, new memories, new things to learn, new achievements. If you go about life, just thinking to yourself that it will be an awful year then you’re going to have an awful year, it’s obvious isn’t it, if an Athlete said to him or herself that she would never achieve a world record, she’ll more than likely never achieve it, thinking positively is vital, positive thinking determines positive energy which determines positive results. Many people get stuck in a loop, almost like they’re in prison and can’t break free, break out of your comfort zone, do something challenging, just as I explored in my blog “Get Comfortable, Being Uncomfortable“.

“Positive thinking determines positive energy which determines positive results.”

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all my readers, look out for my brand new book, coming Summer 2024, it’s called “What’s Normality?”.
