It’s World Mental Health Day 2023, it’s time to talk, so whether you’re with your friend, sister, brother, mum, dad, girlfriend, wife or husband, talk to them, check in with them and make sure they are OKAY, after all they could be in need of a mental health service. Whether that’s asking them how they are, what they’ve been up to or just generally checking in on how they’re feeling mentally. I’ve just created a #mentalhealthmatters TikTok effect which you can use to create your own video, go check it out on Tiktok by simply searching #mentalhealthmatters. Let’s spread the word about mental health awareness after all mental health is real and is happening right now.

I came across an amazing video, click here to watch it, by Norwich City FC which depicts a pair of fans, one them is quiet and timid and clearly shows he’s struggling with his mental health whilst the other man isn’t so obvious, he’s loud, enjoying the game and is really cheerful. Sadly, the video shows the loud man disappear and it’s presumed he has died. That’s why it’s important to talk to people, no matter how they seem.

The video itself has been praised by UEFA because of how well it depicts the status of mental health in society. Men especially are prone to not speaking out about their mental illness, I can’t elaborate enough how vital it is. Maintaining your mental health is vital, I try to enjoy life as much as I can, I do things such as get a new tattoo, go on holiday or see a show without thinking too much about what other people think.

In fact, I just got a new tattoo, it’s a feather with an eye in the middle, the feather is a symbol of strength, power and wisdom and matches with my other tattoo which has the word “strength” recognising my physical as well as mental strength. It hurt a bit and took a long time, in fact over 3 hours 45 minutes but I came through it okay and have an amazing piece of art on my arm. Here’s a picture of my tattoo below:

My message to you would be to enjoy life and “live, laugh, love”, just like one of my other tattoos says.
