The Most MAGICAL Run Of My Life

Wow, that was the most MAGICAL experience of my life, from today my perspective of running has changed, pace, time, speed, it doesn’t matter, all that matters is you, the road and nature and of course, crossing that finishing line.

It’s A Kind Of Magic

It felt like I was Dr Doolittle or something, I started running and I just started noticing every single piece of detail, the birds, the bark on the trees, the pigeons flying over, the sheep in the fields, the beautiful blue sky, the sunrise, the grass, the road signs, the hedges, the birds chirping, literally everything was alive. It was like I was running and nature was joining me. If you think back to when we were a child, all we did is run and play in parks, woodland and outside. I remember when I used to go to the park as a kid with my Nan and we used to pick blackberries and then we used to go off into the woods, we used to call some of the woods “Dinosaur Land” because it had a giant tree bark you could climb across.

Live In The Moment

It’s this mentality that’s really changed my thinking, we don’t need to worry about how fast we run a marathon or half marathon or 10k or 5k, we need to take the experience in, we need to soak it all up and remember every single part of it. This is how I’m going to run my future races, including New York Marathon, not for the time but for the experience, the moment, then you can treasure it, because at the end of the day we only have one life, so why not soak it all in, my not remember as much of the day as you can.

I’m really struggling with anxiety at the minute hence having this experience, the days are so long and tiring, but these experiences will only make me stronger in the long run. I see myself coming through this coronavirus rubbish as a new person, a person who appreciates the world in a much grateful manner, a person who thrives on personal connection (that’s my next blog by the way) and a person who lives every day to the full!
