The Real Reason I Run

Imagine being 18 stone? Walking around feeling like you’re carrying two of you? Feeling like you’re being drowned in fat, unable to breath, every step you take feels like extra, phenomenal effort.

It’s horrible, disgusting and something I never want to go back too. Some people say food is like a drug, we eat too much and we always feel horrible after. But what made me choose to change my life? Why did I wake up one day and say, you know what Dan I’m going to start running?

“I remember that feeling, being free, being able to breath easily, feeling confident, feeling like you’re on top of the world”

I had lost weight and ran a half marathon in 2010 but I had put all this weight back on again. I remembered the time when I had lost weight in 2010, I remembered that feeling, being free, being able to breath easily, feeling confident, feeling like you’re on top of the world, feeling like you can do anything. I’m pleased to say this has come across in my job as well as my life. I knew taking up running wasn’t impossible. I took these thoughts and stepped out the door. I knew I had to do something that would change my life forever.

If you want to start running and lose weight, it’s not impossible. Start by signing up to a challenge, let’s say a 10k or a virtual run, allow yourself plenty of time to train. If you sign up to a challenge, you’ll have no choice but to train and you’ll soon never want to stop. As I’ve said before, running is a drug, once you start you’ll never want to stop.
