Before I go running, I usually eat half a bowl porridge. I sometimes add a squirt of Lyle’s golden syrup or a banana to my porridge to give me a sugar hit, just before I go out the door.

1 Porridge – The carbs you need to make it to the end of your run.

2 Banana – The best thing you can eat, it’s really good cards and a fantastic source of potassium, you’ll lose potassium when you sweat!

3 Granola – Another alternative to a card fueled running breakfast.

4 Lyle’s Golden Syrup – The sugar hit you’ll need to start the race.

5 Yogurt – High in both carbohydrates and water, Yogurt is a great source of energy.
